My Local Church Experience, Maxwell Reymer

I began meeting with the local church with my parents in 1979. I was in second grade then and could see that they were serious Christians. My mother was a volunteer deputy serving in a prison ministry distributing Christian comic books, while my father had his own architecture business for Christ. Because of this seeking in their hearts, my uncle was able to introduce them to the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and to the local church.

I grew up in this kind of Christian home and was baptized in seventh grade. Later in college, I realized what I had when a ministry group on campus questioned my salvation because I wasn't constantly discipling people.

Throughout my college career, I found that no matter where I moved, all the local churches were the same. The local church as Christ's body with Christ as their head, just expressed Christ. Because Christ is the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45) and because we have a human spirit (Romans 8:16); and are joined to Him (1 Corinthians 6:17), we in the local churches may express Christ.
